The SierraSnowboard.com community asked, and we listened, introducing three new snowboarding brands to the mix of items available online and in the store: Nitro Snowboards, Academy Snowboards, and DC Snowboards, boots and outerwear.
“Our online community is the most important factor in bringing new brands into Sierra Snowboard,” said SierraSnowboard.com Manager Donald Fierros. “Nitro and DC have been on the community’s wish-list for years, and both brands have an impressive lineup this year, so it was time. Academy snowboards we brought in because they not only have a good lineup of boards, but they also offer a scholarship program for shredders who need extra cash for their higher education.”
With 42 models currently available online and in the store, Nitro Snowboards now has a strong presence in the Sierra Snowboard retail operations.
With innovations such as their new Gullwing reverse-camber design incorporated into popular models such as the Team Gullwing and Subzero, and technologies such as a “drifter” base — which slightly raises the edges of the board between a rider’s feet (making it easier to hit kinked rail features without damaging one’s board) incorporated into many of their freestyle models, Nitro has not been afraid to push the envelope in order to develop snowboards that meet riders’ needs.
Also new for the 2010 season at Sierra Snowboard is the lineup of Academy Snowboards: the Propaganda, Propaganda Reverse Camber, Team, Rhythm, and Serenity Womens.
Supporting this brand actually helps support up-and-coming shredders who have dreams of riding while also staying in school. For 2010, Academy Snowboard Co. is putting 1% of its sales into its Academy Scholarship Program, which will help four riders pay for college while also keeping their shred dreams alive.
Academy also brings an annual snowboard camp to Boreal every year (April 4-5, 2010) with coaching by Academy pro riders Jonas Michilot, Chad Tarbell, Ryan Tarbell, Melissa Evans, Nick Poohachoff, Will Bateman and Matt Peterson. Registration is $179 and must be made by March 16, 2010. See AcademySnowboards.com for all the details.
Another long-requested brand that’s new to Sierra Snowboard this season is DC snowboards, boots and outerwear.
Long known for making quality boots and technical apparel, DC’s venture into snowboard manufacturing has produced boards such as the HDK (Honeycomb Kevlar Directional) and the BDR (Bender Done Right) which incorporate cutting-edge innovations into proven designs.
DC’s boots have a great reputation — and pro riders such as Travis Rice — supporting them. And DC’s packs and outerwear offer all the features a rider is looking for with enough style to get you noticed on the hill.
