Sierra Snowboard is proud to announce a new collaboration with Protect Our Winters (POW), a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by professional big-mountain snowboarder Jeremy Jones, that’s dedicated to reversing the global warming crisis through stewardship and education.

Starting January 8, 2010, Sierra Snowboard will begin selling eight custom-designed T-shirts for $9.95 each, with every penny of the purchase price of the first 500 shirts sold going to POW, to be reinvested in environmental programs in the Sierra Nevada region.

“Seeing as how the Sierra Snowboard community is made up of snowboarders and skiers who all have a vested interest in keeping our winters long and snow-filled, this collaboration with Protect Our Winters seemed like a natural fit,” said Sierra Snowboard Educator Doug Fagel, who helped forge the fundraising partnership. “We’re committed to raising $5,000 immediately for POW to invest in the Sierra Nevada, and plan to use this fundraiser as the start of an ongoing effort to get our huge online community more involved in environmental education and action.”

In addition to getting a fresh new T-shirt, everyone who purchases a shirt through Sierra Snowboard’s POW fundraiser will automatically become a member of POW, and will receive a POW sticker and a monthly newsletter filled with inspirational stories and tips on how we all can cut back on our carbon footprint.
